2012H Mobile H.E.A.R. Encoder

The Pyramid Communications Model 2012H is a microprocessor controlled encoder for use in mobile EMS applications to selectively call different hospitals in accordance with the nation wide H.E.A.R. systems. The driver can directly enter any series of numbers (up to 7 digits) and press Enter. The entered number will automatically be sent to the hospital base station to enable voice communications between the ambulance and the emergency crew. The 2012H will monitor the channel activity before sending it's message if the channel is busy. The front panel LCD gives a clear status indication when transmitting, when the channel is busy, and will display each digit as it is dialed to confirm proper operation. The 2012H has a 30 number memory dial feature with alpha tags that give the drives easy access to commonly used numbers. Pressing the F1 key brings up the memory dial feature. Enter the 2 digit memory location or use the up/down arrow keys to scroll through the list. A 16 character alpha tag helps identify the proper memory location.

Completely automatic operation
When the user presses any key 0-9, the 2012 enters the direct dial mode; up to 7 digits can be entered. If a wrong digit is entered, pressing the Clear key erases one entry. When all of the digits have been entered, press the Enter key to send the manual entry.

The model 2012H will monitor the channel for activity; on conventional channels, it can be configured to inhibit transmission in the presence of proper tone. On trunking systems, it will be inhibited from transmitting if the receiver audio is un-muted. If the 2012H is unable to send it's message within 60 seconds, it will cancel the call request and alert the operator with 3 beeps to indicate call fail. Once the channel is clear, the model 2012H will send its message and display each digit as it is sent. The model 2012H can be programmed for 8, 10, or 20 digits per seconds dialing speed, and for 2805 or 1500 Hz tone sets.
